Restoration Services for Public Spaces

Floor sanding, repairs and maintenance for schools, churches, community halls and offices in Esher, planned around your timetable.

Restoring floors in schools, churches and offices

Sports halls, church halls and busy offices see thousands of footsteps every week. With the right preparation and finish, an original wooden floor can be restored to look and perform like new. Our Esher team restores floors for schools, churches, community halls and offices, and we plan every job around the way your building is used.

Sectors we cover

  • Schools and academies - sports halls, assembly halls and classrooms, sanded and finished during holidays.

  • Churches and community halls - historic and heavily used floors restored around services, bookings and events.

  • Offices - sanding and re-coating out of hours or at weekends, so your business keeps running.

Minimal disruption

We know a hall cannot simply close for a week. Work can be phased room by room, done out of hours, or completed over a holiday so the building is ready when you need it. Our dust-free machines and low-VOC finishes keep the rest of the building usable while we work.

Compliance you can rely on

We understand the compliance requirements of schools, churches and commercial premises. Before any job we supply risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and we can send copies of our £5m public liability insurance certificate. We are used to working in occupied buildings and follow your site rules.

Floors for sport and activity

Sports hall floors need a finish that is hardwearing, easy to clean and safe to play on. We use specialist sports lacquers with appropriate slip resistance, and re-apply badminton, netball, basketball and other court markings between coats. A properly finished hall floor stays safe and smart for years. We can also advise on cleaning regimes for caretaking and cleaning teams.

Why restore rather than replace?

  • Much cheaper than a replacement floor

  • Preserves original timber and character

  • More sustainable than ripping out and replacing

  • Faster turnaround, often within a holiday period

Keeping floors in good condition

The best way to protect your investment is regular maintenance. A light re-coat every year or two, timed for quieter periods, keeps busy floors protected and avoids the cost of a full sand. We also advise caretakers and cleaning teams on the right products and routines, and recommend entrance matting to stop grit reaching the floor. Many of our school and church clients have been with us for years.

Every project starts with a free site survey, a fixed quote and a clear programme of works. Our guide prices give an idea of costs, and larger projects receive a tailored quote.

What we offer

A typical project includes repairs to damaged areas followed by full sanding and refinishing. Between full restorations, lacquer re-coating keeps busy floors protected for a fraction of the cost. Take a look at our recent projects for examples of halls and public buildings we have restored.

Always. RAMS and insurance certificates are supplied before work starts.

Can you re-apply sports court markings?

Yes. We can re-apply badminton, netball and basketball markings between coats of sports lacquer.

FAQ

Questions about Public Spaces

All questions
Do you do court lines on hall floors?

We can. After sanding we apply sports-grade lacquer and can repaint court markings to your layout between coats so they are sealed in. Read more about our school floor restoration.

What do I need to do before you arrive?

Please clear the room of furniture, rugs and small items before we arrive. We can help move heavy furniture if we know in advance. Our preparation checklist has more tips.

Can you work during school holidays?

We regularly work during holidays, evenings and weekends. Most halls are finished in a few days, so disruption is kept to a minimum.

Do you provide risk assessments and method statements?

Yes — we supply RAMS and insurance certificates for every commercial or public project. Our team is used to working on occupied sites with site inductions and access rules.

Will office work disrupt our staff?

We can work evenings, nights and weekends so the office stays open. Dust-free sanding and low-odour finishes mean staff can be back at their desks quickly.

Do you work on listed buildings and church halls?

We have restored many church and community hall floors. We treat older floors with care and choose finishes suited to busy halls. See churches and community halls.
